Apple is reportedly testing a new integration between Apple Music and WhatsApp that will let users share songs and selected lyrics directly to their WhatsApp Status. According to a recent report by 9to5Mac, this feature has been spotted in the iOS 26.2 developer beta, hinting at a future update that strengthens Apple’s focus on seamless social sharing.
The iOS 26.2 beta adds new sharing options inside Apple Music, allowing users to post directly to WhatsApp Status—Meta’s story-style feature that lets users share photos, videos, or text updates lasting 24 hours. With this change, Apple joins platforms like Spotify, which already offer rich options to share music across social apps.
Previously, Apple Music users could only post songs to WhatsApp using basic link sharing, which produced plain text updates without much visual appeal. The upcoming feature changes that by allowing users to share highlighted lyrics, song titles, and album artwork in a visually engaging layout.
In the current test version, users can tap “Share Lyrics” in the Apple Music app, then select “WhatsApp Status” as the destination. After picking a few lines of lyrics, they can instantly post their update with the song’s album cover and details. However, 9to5Mac noted that the feature appears inconsistently when sharing full songs, suggesting Apple is still refining the experience for final release.
Once this feature officially launches with iOS 26.2, Apple Music users can expect a richer and more interactive sharing experience. The move could boost Apple Music’s discoverability and engagement across social media, positioning it closer to Spotify in offering dynamic lyric-sharing integrations.
