Samsung’s First Tri-Fold Smartphone Could Break New Ground in 2025

Samsung’s tri-fold smartphone has been making waves in the rumor mill for years, but it looks like the wait may finally be over. Reports suggest the highly anticipated device — possibly named the Galaxy Z TriFold — could debut at the upcoming APEC summit in Gyeongju on October 31 and November 1.

Whether Samsung will host a full-scale launch event or simply showcase the device at APEC is still unclear. Either way, the timing aligns with leaks and whispers we’ve been hearing throughout 2025.

Global Release or Regional Exclusive?

The big mystery surrounds availability. Will the Galaxy Z TriFold be limited to Samsung’s home turf of South Korea and China — where rivals like Huawei have already launched tri-fold models — or will it reach global markets?

Samsung’s history offers mixed signals. In 2024, the Galaxy Z Fold SE was sold only in South Korea and China, though many of its signature features later appeared in the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which launched worldwide. That precedent raises questions about Samsung’s rollout strategy this time.

Why Now?

There’s good reason to believe Samsung might go global with the tri-fold. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has been a massive success, recording a 50% sales boost compared to the Fold 6. Impressively, nearly 30% of buyers upgraded from Galaxy S Ultra models, proving that the appetite for foldables is stronger than ever — even without S Pen support.

With momentum on its side, Samsung could see the Galaxy Z TriFold as its next big leap into a broader market.

What We Know About Samsung’s Tri-Fold

Based on current leaks, here’s what may set the Galaxy Z TriFold apart:

– Main Display : Expansive 9.96-inch screen

– Cover Screen : Compact 6.49-inch display

– Build : Titanium and aluminum frame

– Processor : Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset

– RAM : 16GB

– Camera Design : Punch-hole camera instead of under-display technology

– Shared Features : Hinge mechanisms and speakers similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7

Battery Questions Remain

One major unknown is battery performance. Rumors suggest Samsung is testing a new folding battery to maximize capacity, but charging speeds may still trail some competitors.

A Pivotal Release for Samsung

The Galaxy Z TriFold could represent a defining moment for Samsung. As one of the most hyped devices in Samsung’s foldable journey, expectations are sky-high. The only question: will it stay regional or finally go global?

We won’t have to wait long to find out, with October’s launch window just around the corner.
